BookHound 7ce Bookstore Inventory Software for Windows Released
ASHEVILLE, NC, July 8, 2008 - Leading book marketplace Biblio.com and Oakland-based Bibliopolis today announced the release of the Windows version of the free bookstore inventory software, BookHound 7ce.
Through the exclusive licensing and distribution agreement previously announced, Biblio.com and Bibliopolis are working together to make the software available for free to all bookstores and booksellers. The OS X version was released June 3rd, and has garnered significant interest among independent bookstores and booksellers, with several hundred downloads to date. The Windows version is compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista and contains all of the same advanced features as the OS X version, including an integrated BISAC subject library, integrated spell checking, advanced searches and global editing of data, and easy-to-use options for managing inventory across multiple online sales venues.
"Working with Biblio.com on this project has been a delight. Their support staff will be a great asset to BookHound users.," said Luke Lozier, founding partner of Bibliopolis, which designed BookHound. Alan Green, co-founder of Bibliopolis and creator of BookHound notes, "The availability of software for booksellers that is both free, full-featured, and Mac and Windows compatible has always been limited; we're happy that Biblio.com can see to it that our product reaches anyone who needs it in the bookselling community."
Biblio.com estimates that the Mac OS X version has already been downloaded by as many as 30% of bookstores who use the OS X operating system, and hopes to see a similar rate of uptake among Windows users in the coming months. "Seeing BookHound 7ce reach an overall market saturation of 40% by year's end is quite possible," predicts Brendan Sherar, chief executive officer of Biblio.com. "Naturally, the challenge and the goal for us is going to be helping booksellers through the process of adoption and ensuring that they understand how they can use the product successfully in their businesses."
